Allardyce to field strong side

Allardyce???s seventh-placed Hammers have had the luxury of five days rest ahead of the third-round tie at Goodison Park following the busy festive period.

“It’s not possible to play the best team each game because of the fatigue levels,” he said. “But we’ve had four or five days rest which has helped so we can play a strong team.

“We won’t have a few players available due to the Africa Cup of Nations starting soon and Diafra Sakho has got a back injury which we are assessing.

???He’s seeing a specialist in London at the moment. He’s had all the appropriate scans but we need to see the extent of it.

“James Tomkins twisted his ankle yesterday so we’ll assess that one. The three Africa Cup of Nations??players won’t feature so we’ve got a bit of a thin squad.

“Looking at the team there won’t be too many changes. Mark Noble and Kevin Nolan will play a big part. Ricardo Vaz Te might get an opportunity and Matt Jarvis hasn’t played as much as he wants to so he’ll get a few more games soon.

???We haven’t had the results we wanted recently but I think the performances have still been very good. We’ll play the strongest team available against Everton.”
