The Eagles were down by a goal against Fenerbahce for the first leg of the Europa League semi-final but faced little trouble in the return leg at the Estadio da Luz.
Oscar Cardozo scored a double with Nicolas Gaitan adding an early opener while Dirk Kuyt could only register a penalty for the visitors on the night.
The Primeira Liga leaders will now face Chelsea in the final in good spirits as they are on course to seal the domestic title as they need just five points from their remaining three games of the season.
They do face arch-rivals Porto next week but after reaching the Europa League final, having vanquished the likes of Newcastle, Bayer Leverkusen and now Fenerbahce, Jesus' side will be fancying a silverware-laden end to the season.
"We knew after the first leg we had more of a team than Fenerbahce. We were convinced we could eliminate them. They're a team that did not create us many problems. Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen [opponents in the earlier rounds] are stronger than this team," Jesus confidently told the assembled reporters on his thinking during the 3-1 semi-final second leg win.
"To be in the final is historic. We deserved to win, we've had a fantastic Europa League.
"We had very strong momentum. Our opponents cannot have many arguments. We were a better team. At half-time I told the players to relax, that we would score goals."
Should Benfica win their 33rd Primeira Liga title and succeed against Chelsea, they have the opportunity of winning the first treble in their history as they also take on Vitória de Guimarães in the Taça de Portugal Final.
