Bale has undoubtedly been the best player for Spurs this season; the Welsh international already has 17 goals and six assists to his name in the Premier League, and his superb form has seen him almost single-handedly lead the Lilywhites to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Unsurprisingly, Bale has attracted the interest of several top clubs in Europe, including the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, and Los Blancos are expected to launch a bid for the £60million-rated player during the summer.
And Zidane, who currently works as the director of football for Real, admits Bale's recent displays have left him awestruck.
"This year the player who's impressed me most is not actually playing in the Champions League," Zidane was quoted as saying by the Sun.
"He's playing in "the other cup" and that's Bale. He's unique.
"He makes things look easy, his pace is frightening, his acceleration is unbelievable because of his ability to go through the gears in very little space.
"Plus, he's very good technically which is also important. We mustn't forget that he plays football very well!
"And he's really impressed me. I've seen him two or three times live, including recently at Lyon, which wasn't necessarily his best game.
"Every time he got the ball he can surprise you."
When asked whether Bale was on the same level as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Zidane added: "He's perhaps not quite at the level of the other two but he's different.
"So personally I don't think he's far off."
Bale will likely feature for Spurs when they take on Basel in the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday.
