Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas expressed his delight after the team beat Besiktas to reach the UEFA Europa League semi-finals.
The Ligue 1 outfit drew 3-3 on aggregate after a 2-1 defeat in Istandbul which forced the second leg into extra-time and then penalties.
OL edged out their hosts 7-6 in the penalty shoot-out to advance into the last four, which delighted the club president, who is hoping to face Manchester United in the next round.
“This is an unforgettable moment, for the whole team, the coach and the club," Aulas said, according the club's official website.
"We have great physical and mental capabilities. Winning away to Besiktas after extra time means that the players played a model match. We saw all the solidarity of the OL family. That warms my heart."
"This may be the year when we suffered the most, but it could also be a great year," he added.
"It would be nice to wait to meet Manchester because they’re probably the strongest team."
