Marchisio was the hero at the Juventus Arena with two late goals that put AC Milan to rest last Sunday and he is hoping to open his scoring account with Italy after coach Cesare Prandelli confirmed that he will start against Serbia on Friday.
The 25-year-old has made 15 starts for the Azzurri but poor form and bad luck with injuries has prevented the Turin native from scoring his first goal since his international debut in 2008.
Marchisio told Tuttosport: "I dream of scoring my first Italy goal. With [Andrea] Pirlo everything is easier [at Juventus], but to consecrate my place in the Azzurri would be like winning a trophy."
With Italy already qualified for Euro 2012, Marchisio can go out has the Serbia game as well as another one against Northern Ireland four days later to break his international scoring duck without any pressure on his shoulders.
