The Ukranian club booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with ease, beating Danish newcomers Nordsjaelland 5-2 in their Group E fixture on Tuesday night.
Speaking to uefa.com after the game, Mkhitaryan revealed that Shakhtar would not be resting on their laurels after achieving qualification, with his team targeting the scalps of Serie A winners Juventus in their bid to top the group.
"It is a good feeling to know we have qualified but the group is not over and we still have the most important game to come, against Juventus, because that will decide if we go through in first or second place," Mkhitaryan stated.
"A draw against Juventus would be enough for us to win the group but we are not thinking along those lines. We are at home and our supporters will be hoping to see us win so we must try and do it for them."
In Group E's other fixture, the Bianconeri recorded a fuss-free 3-0 win over defending champions Chelsea, prompting Nordsjaelland's Nicolai Stokholm to predict that the Italian side would join Shakhtar in the next round.
"I think Juventus will take the other qualifying place because they are the best team we have faced," he explained.
"They were so strong when they beat us in Turin and they showed again in beating Chelsea 3-0 that they are in good shape."
