Andrea Mancini, who is currently on the books of La Liga side Real Vallodolid, admits he cannot believe his dad Roberto's position at City has come under the microscope this season.
"I don't understand the criticism," Andrea told Marca.
"He ended up winning the Premier League with City, something they haven't won for 44 years, I don't know what else he has to do."
Andrea was also asked about whether he thinks there are similarities between his father and the 'Special One', who guided Real to La Liga last season.
"They aren't alike," Andrea said.
"My dad was a player for many years, and it shows. He has a lot of experience and knows more about football than Mourinho.
"Mourinho is more of a psychologist, more of a motivator, he knows how to manage the minds of the players.
"The ideal coach would be a mixture of both."
Both Roberto Mancini and Jose Mourinho will go head-to-head on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League. Mourinho will take his second-placed Group D side to Manchester where Mancini will need to win to keep City's European hopes alive for one more round at least.
The game will also mark Mourinho's 100th in the Champions League and the Real website says the Portuguese is set to become the youngest manager to reach the mark.
