Despite going into the game as favourites, AC Milan were sunk by surprise package Malaga, when Joaquin slotted home the only goal of the game in the 64th minute.
The defeat at the hands of the La Liga side was the Rossoneri's third on the trot, but Allegri insisted that he was not overly concerned by their poor form.
"Overall we conceded very little in the entire game, prior to scoring they had only managed to maintain possession of the ball," Allegri said to the club's official website.
"The team put in a good performance and with this system of play we have good solutions. We were lacking in the final pass, but now we just have to focus on winning against Genoa."
Choosing to go with three players in defence for this game, the Italian was optimistic for the success of his tactical switch.
"The three man defense is a good starting point and it’ll get even better if we beat Genoa who are a tough team to win against," Allegri stated.
"The defense did well, we lacked a bit of something up front."
Defender Daniele Bonera echoed his manager's sentiments, though the 31-year also warned that the Rossoneri must strengthen their mentality and spirit if they are to put an end to their losing run.
"We didn’t push forward often enough, we have to improve and it’s banal to say it but at the moment as soon as we make a mistake we’re under pressure. The team is a bit fragile mentally and we just need to find a bit of courage," Bonera observed.
"Right now, all the players who have just arrived probably didn’t expect top be in this situation and maybe they lose heart because of the results."
The Serie A game between AC Milan and Genoa takes place at the San Siro this Saturday.
