Celtic's Georgios Samaras stunned the Camp Nou when he headed the Scottish champions into the lead early in the first half, but Iniesta managed to draw Barcelona level moments before the break. Just when it seemed that Celtic would come away from the encounter with a point, Jordi Alba sneaked in to tuck away Adriano's cross, scoring the winner deep into extra time.

Speaking to Barcelona's official website, Iniesta revealed that the Catalans found it difficult to score against their opponents, who chose a defensive mentality upon taking the lead.

"After their goal that they closed themselves off at the back and it was very difficult [to break through], it would have been unjust if we hadn’t won," he said.

Nonetheless, the Spaniard praised his team-mates for their focus and perseverance, factors he believes enabled them to score their late winner.

"We were convinced that the ball would go in. It could have happened earlier, but the game isn’t over until the final whistle," Iniesta stated.

"It’s never easy to maintain your concentration on defence when the team is on the attack all game long. Marc [Batra] and [Javier] Mascherano were fantastic."

Barcelona travel to Rayo Vallecano for their next La Liga fixture.
