The Milan club won the Scudetto last season, and will face the reigning La Liga and Champions League holders at the Nou Camp.
However, the Italians are not in good form heading into the clash, having stumbled to a 2-2 draw against Lazio on Friday at the start of the Serie A season.
Silva, however, believes that his side can still give Barcelona a good fight in Catalunya.
"We are working hard, it will be a difficult game but we'll see," the 27-year-old said to Rai Sport.
"We are not facing certain defeat. Every week we know we will face a great team and we must pay attention to the specific characteristics of our opponents.
"For me it's like playing a derby between the two best sides in Europe. Both will be strong but we will try to win", he concluded.
