Silva had to be substituted off after 21 minutes during the first leg, which Barcelona won 3-1. Despite missing Paris Saint-Germain's 3-1 win over Nice on Saturday, Silva's injury has not yet healed.
"Originally named in the Paris Saint-Germain squad for the Champions League quarterfinal second leg away to FC Barcelona on Tuesday, Brazilian defender Thiago Silva has withdrawn from the squad with injury," a statement on Paris Saint-Germain's official site said. "The Paris Saint-Germain captain will remain at the Ooredoo Training Centre to continue his rehabilitation from injury."
While head coach Laurent Blanc will have a tough time finding Silva's replacement, he will be glad to have Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco Verratti back in the squad for the second leg.
