Die Roten have been undoubtedly the best team in the Bundesliga this season, sweeping away all comers with ease to pick up an amazing 42 points from 17 games and opening up a massive nine point gap over nearest challengers Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite their domination in the Bundesliga, Lahm has called on Die Roten to be more ruthless once the league, currently in the midst of their traditional winter break, resumes, and urged his team-mates to improve themselves in order to secure the title come the end of the season.
"We can't afford to drop points, especially at the start," Lahm was quoted as saying by the official Bayern website.
"We can make it incredibly tough for the other teams to knock us off the top.
"Especially in defence, we were a little sloppy in a couple of matches. We have to work on that."
Given that centre-back Holger Badstuber would be expected to be out for the rest of the season after he suffered a cruciate ligament injury in December, Die Roten signed Jan Kirchhoff from Mainz as a replacement, and Lahm claims that his side have sufficient quality players in their reserves who can step up to the plate if needed.
"We have tremendous depth," Lahm added.
"We could even put out a second line-up perfectly good enough to be the starting team!
"You'll always get unhappy players, but egos have to take a back seat."
Bayern will take on Greuther Furth in their next Bundesliga fixture on 19 January.
