Mainz host Stuttgart on Saturday knowing victory would send them into the mid-season break with 26 points, well on their way to their minimum target of 40 for the season.

"It is up to us whether we turn a good first half of the season into a very good one," said Tuchel, whose were beaten by Borussia Monchengladbach last time out.

"We don't want to end the year with two defeats.

"We are fully motivated, but we have got to show more desire than we did last weekend."

Stuttgart striker Vedad Ibisevic netted hat-trick against Schalke last weekend to take him to the top of the scoring charts with 10 goals.

He has now targeted his first goal in Mainz, where he has yet to find the back of the net in four previous visits.

"Well, I haven't played in their new stadium yet so that could be a good sign," he said on his club's website.

"Of course I always want to score, wherever I am, but it's all about the team and we want to play a good game there.

"The coach will set us up for the game well and then I am sure that we can get something."

Stuttgart coach Bruno Labbadia has named two youth team players in his party, with Soufian Benyamina and Benedikt Rocker making up a squad of just 15 players, which includes Daniel Didavi for the first time this season.

"He could make a short appearance," said Labbadia of the winger, who spent last season on loan at Nurnberg before a serious knee injury sidelined him in the summer.
