Robben has been beset by various injury problems throughout his illustrious career, and the 28-year-old has once again found himself confined to the sidelines in recent times owing to a thigh injury.
The former Real Madrid player admitted that the numerous injuries he had suffered over the years had led him to entertaining thoughts of retirement but claimed that he would not hang up his boots unless he was left with no other choice.
Speaking to German publication Bild, Robben said: "Retiring crossed my mind it because I was disappointed and frustrated that it's taking this long before I can make my comeback.
"However, I also said that playing football and scoring goals still gives me a lot of pleasure.
"Retiring? Absolutely not! I have no intention to retire voluntarily.
"It's really frustrating when do you anything possible in order to make sure you can do your job, yet your body doesn't cooperate.
"Don't worry, though. I will soon be back on the pitch again."
Robben has only made six appearances for Die Roten this season and is not expected to recover in time to feature in their next Bundesliga fixture against Bayer Leverkusen.
