Klopp focused on Nuremberg, not UCL

Jurgen Klopp has urged his Borussia Dortmund side to forget the Champions League and focus on tomorrow's Bundesliga trip to Nuremberg.

Football News: Nuremberg vs Borussia Dortmund

The German champions were yesterday drawn in a Champions League group together with the league winners from Holland (Ajax), England (Manchester City) and Spain (Real Madrid), but Klopp was keen to keep his eye on tomorrow's [Saturday] trip to Bavaria.

"Nuremberg were and still are the dominant issue this week," said Klopp at the pre-match press conference.

Talk of Dortmund's upcoming tasks on Europe's biggest stage was inevitable, though, and Dortmund's general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke laid down the gauntlet to his side to rise to the challenge and come through the group stage.

"It is an incredibly tough yet incredibly attractive group," he said on his club's website.

"All four teams are their league's champions and heroes are born in a group like this."

It was the farewell of Nurnberg's biggest hero of recent years, Marek Mintal, which brought these two clubs together for a pre-season friendly last month, but the 4-2 win for the Bavarians in that game will have no bearing on tomorrow's [Saturday] rematch at the Frankenstadion, according to Nurnberg coach Dieter Hecking.

"We are expecting a completely different opponent," he said. "But we still have the chance to win in every game.

"There is a positive atmosphere within the club and we want to take advantage of that.

"We want to do all we can to keep the three points in Nurnberg and everybody is going to have to raise their game and exceed themselves.

"We have all the conditions for a wonderful afternoon of football."
