Croatia international Olic moved to the Volkswagen Arena on a free transfer from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, while Pogatetz joined from Hannover and Magath is expecting big things from the duo after watching them in training.

"We can see that both Olic and Pogatetz will be assets for the inner workings of the team," he told WAZ.

"They are focused and professional. They show it in training, they both work very hard."

Wolfsburg have also confirmed the signing of Dutch striker Bas Dost, who signed from Eredivisie side Heerenveen, and while the 23-year-old is still recovering from injury, Magath believes he too could shine for the Wolves next season.

"He [Dost] has yet to return to physical fitness," Magath added. "What is clear however, from my perspective anyway, is his ability on the pitch.

"I'm excited about him, how he will perform. I'm sure he will take time to adjust, but I am convinced that when he does we will have a top-class striker."

Wolfsburg recovered from an inconsistent start last season to finish eighth in the Bundesliga, narrowly missing out on Europa League qualification.
