Pizarro spent six seasons at Bayern from 2001 to 2007 and won three league titles and three DFB-Pokals before moving to Chelsea on a free transfer.
However, after failing to settle at Stamford Bridge, the Peru international returned to the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen, where he went on to have four successful season, scoring 89 goals in 143 appearances in all competition.
His form at the Weserstadion convinced Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes to sign him on a one-year deal after his contract with Bremen expired, and Pizarro is now hoping he will be able to fire Bayern to silverware next season.
"I hope I'm the addition that gets Bayern back winning titles again," Pizarro said at a press conference.
"I want to win major titles in Europe. There are things in my career that I want to achieve, the Champions League title is one of these."
The 2011/12 season was ultimately a campaign to forget for Bayern as came up short after contesting for silverware on three fronts. Heynckes' charges lost out to Borussia Dortmund in both the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal, and were also beaten by Chelsea on penalties in a Champions League final they had dominated.
