With the Bundesliga title race over after Borussia Dortmund were crowned champions last week, it would have been easy for the Bavarian side to switch their attentions off the league and focus on their upcoming Champions League final against Chelsea.
However, Heynckes' charges cruised to victory thanks to goals from Mario Gomez and Thomas Muller, and the experienced tactician admits he was pleased with the performance.
"It wasn't exactly easy for my players to switch their attention back to the Bundesliga, although I have to say they were very professional and their attitude was very good, especially those who don't have the rhythm of playing regularly," he said in his post-match press conference.
The Bayern coach also singled out goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt for praise, after the veteran put in an impressive display in his final game for the club.
"Both teams had chances in the first half," Heynckes added. "In his farewell match, Butt prevented us from going behind with some great saves.
"If Ivica Olic had taken the chances that came his way in the second half, we'd have seen it through to the end with much less hassle."
Bayern finish off their league campaign next Saturday at home to Cologne, and also have the DFB-Pokal final against Dortmund to look forward to.
