Ibisevic injury blow for Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim striker Vedad Ibisevic faces a two-month lay-off after tearing muscles in his left thigh in training late last week.

The Bosnian picked up the injury in training ahead of his side's DFB-Pokal first-round victory over Germania Windeck and has been told he must rest for up to eight weeks after further examination of the injury.

The injury is a further setback for the Bosnian, who missed over six months of the 2008/09 season.

Ibisevic was the Bundesliga's top goalscorer at the midway stage of that, Hoffenheim's first campaign in the top flight of German football, with 18 goals in 17 games, but he tore cruciate knee ligaments during the winter break.

He returned early in the following season, but has struggled to rediscover his best form since, scoring only 20 goals in the last two seasons.

Hoffenheim coach Holger Stanislawski must therefore find a replacement for the 32-times capped Bosnia international for Saturday's trip to Hannover and for much of the first half of the Bundesliga season.
