The 31-year-old has been Frankfurt's top goalscorer for the past three seasons and his new deal will expire in 2018.
"Eintracht Frankfurt were always going to be the first people I spoke to," Meier said. "Despite receiving numerous offers, I've decided to extend my contract here by three years.
"It was a heartfelt wish of mine."
Meier joined Frankfurt in 2004 and has since scored 97 goals in 296 appearances, including six this season.
"This is the first sign for the future," said director of sport Bruno Hubner.
"He is a very important player for us and he has developed into a player people can really identify with at Eintracht.
"We're delighted he will be staying with us in the years to come."
