Del Piero, who played alongside Miccoli at Juventus from 2002 to 2004, enjoyed a stellar first season in Australia with Sydney FC and netted 14 goals in 24 games.
His success, along with that of ex-Liverpool striker Emile Heskey and former Japan star Shinji Ono with Newcastle Jets and Western Sydney Wanderers respectively, has led to the A-League becoming a genuine option for players searching a new club.
And according to a transfer rumour report on the Football Federation Australia's official website, Miccoli, who is currently a free agent after his previous club Palermo were relegated from Serie A last season, could be in line to join Melbourne Victory.
Victory are currently looking to fill their marquee international player spot following the departure of Marcos Flores, who has left the club and joined Central Coast Mariners, and were initially heavily linked with a move for Greece captain Giorgios Karagounis.
However, talks have reportedly broken down between the club and the 36-year-old, which has led to speculation that they have now turned their attentions to Miccoli.
The 34-year-old has played for a host of Italian clubs throughout his career and also had a stint in Portugal when he spent two seasons on loan at Benfica.
