Heading into the game at the Emperador Stadium aware that a defeat would all but end their hopes of retaining the title, things were not looking good for Global as they fell behind in the 24th minute after Hector Zaghi pounced on some awful defending to fire past Roland Dely Sadia.
However, they found the equaliser nine minutes after the break when Ben Starosta latched onto Izzeldin Elhabbib's flick-on header and unleashed a ferocious left-footed half volley into the top corner to put his side back into the game.
And 12 minutes from time, Global went on to grab the winner when Jeffrey Christiaens played an incisive through-ball to send Elhabbib racing into the box, and the Sudanese striker made no mistake in firing home to hand his side the victory.
Although Stallion remain top despite the defeat, Global are now just two points behind them with a game in hand and coach Brian Reid was pleased with the spirit his players showed on Tuesday.
"It [the win] showed [our] good character against the team leading the championship," he said on the club's official website. "I'm delighted for the players and the supporters who came today [Tuesday] and got behind the team."
Global chairman Dan Palami was equally pleased with the result but urged his side to be cautious, especially with tough ties some of the UFL's biggest sides still to come.
"We have to calm ourselves down," he said.
"Of course it's three points for us but we still have tough matches ahead against Loyola [Meralco Sparks], [Philippine] Army and our nemesis Kaya, and I'm sure they're out there making sure we don't get the league championship.
"But it was good win for us today [Tuesday]. We showed our character coming from 1-0 down in the first half; that [second 45] was the best half we have ever played."
In Tuesday's earlier game, Kaya's two-game winning streak came to an end as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Pasargad, who took the lead in the 41st minute when Amirkhizan Reza scored with a cracking strike from the edge of the box.
But with 20 minutes remaining, Masanari Omura lashed home a loose ball from ten yards after his initial header had been blocked to earn Kaya a share of the spoils.
