Having sealed home advantage for the one-legged Round of 16 clash after finishing top of Group E, Padang entered Tuesday's clash at the Haji Agus Salim Stadium as slight favourites but found themselves behind in the 31st minute when opposition striker Gaston Merlo opened the scoring with a clinical strike from just inside the area

However, the hosts duly equalised on the stroke of halftime when Edward Junior Wilson fired home a penalty after they David Pagbe was tripped inside the box by Nguyen Tan Dien, and they continued to dominate proceedings but were extremely wasteful in front of goal.

But just as the game looked set for extra-time, Hengky Ardiles found space down the right and clipped a lovely cross to the back post to Mofu, who made no mistake in stabbing home to send the Indonesian side through to the last eight at the expense of their Vietnamese opponents.

Over at the Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium, an impressive display from Hong Kong's Kitchee saw them record a 2-0 win over Malaysian giants Kelantan.

Josep Gombau's men took the lead in the 15th minute after Lek Kcira, in an attempt to prevent Lo Kwan Yee's cross from reaching Pablo Counago, could only stab the ball into his own net, before the win was secured just before the break when Jordi Tarres clinically fired home a cross from Cheung Kin Fung.

Over in the West, Ashraf Nu'man scored a late brace to help Jordan's Al Faisaly beat Al Riffa 3-1 at the Amman International Stadium.

A strike from Mohammed Duig just before the break had handed Al Faisaly the lead, but they were never assured of the win until Nu'man struck in the 82nd minute.

Three minutes later, the Palestine international grabbed his second of the night to all but end the contest, although their Bahraini opponents did manage a consolation a minute from time through a Salman Issa strike.

Finally, Kuwait SC are also through to the last eight but they had to do it the hard way by beating Iraqi outfit Duhok 4-1 on penalties after both sides played out a 1-1 draw.

Chadi Hammami had given the hosts the lead at the Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium in the 25th minute when he fired home a penalty, but Duhok hit back in the 52nd minute through a Salih Sadeer effort.

With neither side able to find the winner, even after 30 minutes of extra-time, the game then went to the dreaded shootout, where Kuwait SC ultimately prevailed.
