Three days after having their perfect start to the season ended by a 2-1 defeat to Buriram United, the Twin Qilins bounced back at the Nongprue Stadium, with Sarawut Masuk netting the only goal of the game in the 36th minute.
To add to Pattaya's misery, they were reduced to ten man late on when Parinya Saenkhammuen was sent off for an awful challenge.
Ten-man Buriram were unable to maintain their chase of Muangthong as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Chiangrai United.
Anawin Jujeen got the visitors off to a perfect start when he fired them in front after six minutes, but they were dealt a blow ten minutes after the break when Suree Sukha received his marching orders.
A minute later, Chiangrai made the most of their numerical advantage when Leandro Assumpcao made it 1-1, but the Thunder Castle restored their lead in the 72nd minute through a Carmelo Gonzalez strike.
However, they were unable to hang on to all three points as Anon Sangsanoi equalised three minutes later to earn the hosts a share of the spoils.
Elsewhere, Brazilian forward Douglas Cardozo scored the only goal of the game in the 47th minute to help Ratchaburi claim 1-0 win over ten-man Bangkok United, while Osotspa Saraburi were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Chainat.
The hosts had taken the lead on the hour mark through an effort from South Korean defender Jo Tae-keun, but Anthony Moura-Komenan netted ten minutes later to earn a share of the spoils for Chainat.
