The trio of Juventus legend Del Piero, former Liverpool star Heskey and UEFA Cup winner Ono made the move to the A-League at the start of the season, filling up the international marquee spots for Sydney FC, Newcastle Jets and the Western Sydney Wanderers respectively.
Tobin told Fox Sports' KickOff that the group's arrival in Australia has helped to boost the quality and exposure of the country's top football league.
"They’ve all made a great impact; All of them have been very press-accommodating, sponsorship-accommodating too – their faces and names have been always been talked about. They’ve also put in for their team; they acknowledge their teammates, celebrate goals like the others do," he pointed out.
"All the fans of the game see that and that’s why they’ve made such a great contribution. I’ve got a 16-year-old son who goes out to each [Sydney] game, wears the Del Piero shirt. He’s obviously a great drawcard but beyond that too, the A-League and football in Australia has benefited from what he’s done."
Although Del Piero has signed a contract extension to remain with Sydney, his team-mate Terry Antonis will be moving to the forward's country of origin next season after agreeing to a transfer to Serie A side Parma.
Antonis expressed his gratitude to Del Piero and hoped to make as much of an impact in Italy as some of his predecessors.
"It's always been my dream to play in Serie A and I couldn't be happier, it's a fantastic set up over here and a huge opportunity for me to further my career. To be joining the same club that Vince Grella and Mark Bresciano played for is a privilege. I hope I can taste some of the success they enjoyed in Italy," he said to SBS.
"It's a club with great tradition and hopefully I can take my game to another level here and add to my football education. I also want to thank Sydney FC and especially Alessandro Del Piero and Pascal Bosschaart who have been really influential and have helped me so much in my time at the club."
