I would also like to thank the Singapore Sports School for helping me fulfill my sporting potential."
"FAS helped arrange the training attachments and allowed me to gain good exposure. I was able to learn a lot at top European clubs. I am both humbled and honoured to have been singled out by some coaches and clubs in Europe and after much consideration, I have decided to take up FC Metz's offer because I liked what I saw and experienced and the fact that FC Metz is a club renowned for its youth academy. I am definitely looking forward to further develop my footballing capabilities as well as academic studies at the club."
Youth Development Manager Akbar Nawas, who was with Adam during his previous attachment stints in Europe, including a 10-day training stint with Metz, supported Adam's decision to accept the offer.
"It was a real learning experience for us and we were really impressed with the facilities and the coaching panel at FC Metz, amongst other clubs. FC Metz is renowned for its youth academy setup in Europe, where they have produced several top international players with the likes of Pires, Saha and Adebayor. I am confident and excited for Adam, who will be able to further develop his footballing abilities while continuing his academic studies during these two years with the club," said Akbar.
"I hope FAS can secure additional resources which will enable more players and coaches to undergo attachment stints at clubs in Europe. This will in turn raise the level of knowledge and capabilities of our players and coaches," he added.
FAS President Zainudin Nordin said: "FAS is pleased to have secured this invaluable opportunity for Adam to train and study at FC Metz. We believe the two-year stint at the club will benefit both Adam and local football. We will support Adam in his pursuit of both footballing and academic successes, and we hope this will further inspire other youth players to work hard and raise their game to the next level."
Zainudin added: "Youth development is one of the core areas of our Strategic Plan. We have been sending young players for overseas exposure on a regular basis, in order to facilitate their development and maximise their potential. Last year, FAS established a Football Development Fund which will be used primarily to send players, coaches, referees and staff for overseas attachments to enhance their capabilities and capacities.
"We are developing collaborative partnerships with our partners to systematically groom and develop our youth players. Going forward, we will also strive to secure more sponsorships and funding which will in turn support our objectives of placing our players on overseas attachments and/or assist them in securing a playing contract in a foreign league."
Adam concluded: "I am confident that more local youth players will have the opportunity to play in Europe to enhance their development soon, in view of the comprehensive and holistic structure of youth development system at FAS, coupled with the establishment of the Football Development Fund."
