Hirofumi Watanabe bagged the only goal of the game after 37 minutes, heading home Jorge Wagner's pinpoint corner to help secure his side a spot in the 2013 edition of the AFC Champions League.
"I happened to be in the right place at the right time and I just stuck my head out," Watanabe told the Japan Times newspaper.
The defeat also brought an end to a traumatic season for Gamba who were relegated from Japan's top-flight following a poor domestic campaign.
Kashiwa are now set to play in Group H of the AFC Champions League where they will be up against Australia's Central Coast Mariners, Guizhou Renhe from China and Korea Republic's Suwon Bluewings.
