Following a goalless first half at the Hang Jebat Stadium, the Red Warriors edged ahead in the 55th minute through winger Nurul Azwan Roya, before veteran striker Indra Putra Mahayuddin doubled their lead when he netted 15 minutes from time.
However, the hosts pulled one back through Ezuan Razali four minutes later to ensure there is still plenty to play for when they meet again at the Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium on Tuesday.
On Friday, ATM claimed a 3-2 aggregate lead over defending champions Negri Sembilan in an absolute thriller at the Majlis Perbandaran Selayang Stadium.
ATM raced to a two-goal lead following the break thanks to clinical strikes from D. Christie Jayaseelan and Bruno Martelotto, but a howler from goalkeeper Farizal Harun allowed Firdaus Azizul to pull one back for the visitors in the 73rd minute.
Armed Forces captain Hairuddin Omar restored his side's two-goal lead seven minutes later, but a minute from time, Malaysia international Shakir Ali netted with a spectacular scissors-kick to keep alive Negri's hopes of making the last four.
On Tuesday, Pahang beat LIONSXII 2-1 in the first leg of their last-eight clash, while Selangor recorded a 3-1 victory at Johor FC.
