Del Piero is set to leave Juventus in the current transfer window after the Turin club chose not to renew his contract.
The former Italy international has previously indicated his interest in playing in the American continents with clubs from Brazil and US interested in him but but latest developments may see the him move to Southeast Asia instead.
It was revealed on Gazzetta dello Sport and Muangthong United's official website that the Thai side have sent representatives on Tuesday evening to negotiate with Del Piero's brother and agent Stefano Del Piero with a €5million per year deal in addition to exclusive rights to the player's brand image and merchandising.
It is understood that 20 clubs originally tabled offers for the former Juventus captain but only five are currently in the running, with Muangthong, MLS side LA Galaxy and an unnamed Brazilian side amongst them.
Del Piero is thought to prefer to sign with LA Galaxy but the MLS side will have to rid themselves of one other contract in order to accomodate the 37-year-old.
