The 24-year-old, who came on for the injured Agu Casmir just after the half-hour mark, picked up the ball inside the area in the fourth minute of added time and skipped past a challenge from Hasmizan Kamarodin, before firing into the bottom corner to hand his side all three points at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.

The result capped off a memorable night for V. Sundramoorthy's men as they kept the Turtles at bay in horrid conditions with a determined display, led by stand-in captain Hariss Harun, and was also their third win in a row following victories over Sarawak and Sabah.

LIONSXII remain six points clear of second-placed Kelantan, who kept up their chase of the league leaders with a 1-0 win over basement club Kuala Lumpur, which came courtesy of a second-half penalty from Mohammed Ghaddar. The Red Warriors remain favourites to retain their title as they still have five games in hand over the Singapore outfit.

Selangor continued their recent resurgence with an emphatic 5-0 win over T-Team to remain third on the table.

The Red Giants cruised to a two-goal halftime lead courtesy of goals from talismanic captain Safiq Rahim and Lebanon international Ramez Dayoub, before wrapping up all three points thanks to second-half goals from Bosko Balaban, R. Surendran and Fitri Shazwan Raduwan.
