Following a goalless first half, Air Force went ahead five minutes after the break when Yanti Barsales raced through down the right and set Caligdong up for an easy finish, before the Philippines international added another four minutes later.

Nomads pulled one back in the 79th minute through a David Denison penalty, but veteran forward Ian Araneta but Air Force back in control by restoring their two-goal lead four minutes from time after Caligdong had neatly laid the ball into his path.

Randy Musters grabbed Nomads' second in injury-time but it proved too little too late as the defending champions held on for all three points.

In Division 2 action, Diliman Victory Liner took their frustration at missing out on promotion with a 3-1 win over Union Internacional Manila.

Paolo Ansaldo had given Diliman the lead in the 37th minute, only for Ajah Goodluck Stanley to equalise with a brilliant effort two minutes later.

However, there was to be no denying Salvador Alberto Salvacion's charges as they wrapped up the win thanks to second-half strikes from Francis John Liza and Ariel Zerrudo Jr.

Elsewhere, Shinichi Tanaka grabbed the only goal of the game on the half-hour mark as Manila All-Japan beat Laos FC 1-0.
