Thai champs Buriram make winning return

Buriram, whose continental commitments were recently concluded following their AFC Champions League exit, raced to a two-goal lead inside the opening ten minutes of the second period courtesy of a Frank Acheampong brace.

The Glass Rabbits pulled one back just after the hour mark when Buriram defender Yves Hermann Ekwala netted an own-goal, but the visitors eventually held on for all three points.

The result also meant the hosts dropped to third in the table, after BEC Tero Sasana recorded a 2-1 win over TOT SC.

Cleiton Silva, who is currently the league's top scorer, opened the scoring for BEC Tero in the 14th minute, although Prakit Deeprom equalised for his side shortly before the break.

However, there was to be no denying the Fire Dragons as they went on to wrap up the win after Silva grabbed his second of the game in the 65th minute.

Over at the Mae Fah Luang Stadium, Chiangrai United edged Osotspa Saraburi in a seven-goal thriller.

Chiangrai took a 2-0 lead inside five minutes courtesy of a Choklarp Nilsang double, but goals from Boonmee Boonrod and Worapol Bussapakom levelled matters for Osotspa.

The hosts retook the lead in the 22nd minute when Choklarp completed his hat-trick before Chitescu Leontin added a fourth in the 67th minute, although Worapol set up a grandstand finish by pulling one back for Osotspa a minute later.

Elsewhere, captain Niweat Siriwong grabbed the only goal of the game in the 81st minute to help Pattaya United beat Wuachon United, Thai Port were held to a 2-2 draw by Chainat, while Samut Songkhram and Esan United played out a 0-0 draw.
