Global had looked set to extend their lead at the top of the Philippines' top flight to five points after going ahead in the 31st minute through Carli de Murga's strike.
And with Kaya failing to carve open a stubborn Global defence, coach Kale Alvarez gambled on taking off Nate Burkey in the 78th minute and bringing on Borromeo for only his second game since returning from an ACL injury.
Fourteen minutes later and deep into injury-time, the Philippines international found the back of the net to salvage a share of the spoils for visitors and keep them just two points behind their title rivals.
Loyola Meralco Sparks remain a further point behind in third with a game in hand, and are currently in Singapore for their RHB Singapore Cup opening round clash against Geylang United.
