Newly crowned Premier League champions Manchester City will be hoping their Under-15 side can scale similar heights when they face Argentine aces Boca Juniors Under-15 in a fascinating Group B fixture on June 25.
City and Boca have Singapore's Under-15 team for company in the group which kicks off with the hosts playing Boca on June 23.
In Group A, Ajax Under-15 will face Singapore's Under-16s in the competition opener, with Porto's Under-15 side starting their campaign two days later against Singapore Under-16.
With local hopes high, tournament sponsors Canon have handed players from the island republic an added incentive by offering to sponsor a stint at one of the four foreign club's academies for the most outstanding individual from both Singapore's Under-15 and 16 outfits.
Widely regarded as the world's leading youth tournament, the Lion City Cup, which was won last year by Brazil's Flamengo, will begin its 24th edition at the Jalan Besar Stadium, with the top two sides from each group squaring off in the June 29 semi-finals.
The competition's final is scheduled to be played on July 1.
