The Red Giants opened their latest MSL campaign with a remarkable 2-2 away draw in Paroi against recent Charity Shield winners Negri Sembilan on Tuesday.
Selangor had been two down before second half goals Amirul Hadi Zainal and key midfielder Safiq Rahim secured a share of the spoils.
"If the strikers are on song, then we should be able to produce the desired results," Irfan, who guided to FA Cup success last season, told The Star newspaper.
"It is my style to field an offensive line-up and I feel this system has worked well with my previous teams, including Terengganu," said Irfan, adding that he wanted to see more attacking intent from the likes of captain Mohd Amri Yahya and Azidan Sarudin.
Selangor are set to play Perak next at the Bukit Jalil Stadium on Saturday.
