Fresh from their 4-0 battering against defending champions Salgaocar last time out, East Bengal are eager to right some wrongs and get their I-League campaign back on track.
That defeat to Salgaocar, coupled with Mehtab Hosain's red card ensured East Bengal's trip to Goa was a distinctly forgettable one.
However, East Bengal coach, Trevor Morgan is adamant that his charges are intent on looking ahead, with a win at the top of their agenda when they entertain Air India
"We need to put the last match behind us and Monday is a new day. It's in fact, a new year. We will start from scratch - it's a must-win match for us, Morgan declared.
"We need to keep ourselves in the top-half in the table," he added.
Air India, consistent league performers thus far, also failed to shine in their last game, losing 3-1 to Mohun Bagan thanks to a late capitulation.
As with his East Bengal counterpart, Air India coach Santosh Kashyap is acutely aware of the importance of Monday's clash.
"It's a big-match for us. It's an away match for us but we intend to play as an unit. We will get our chances and if we can convert them, anything can happen," he said.
"It's the New Year. The earlier matches don't affect us anymore. Our slogan is simple - play positive."
East Bengal currently have 23 points from 12 matches, while Air India have 19 points from the 12 matches they have played.
