The Goan oufit, who are the I-League's reigning champions, defeated Kolkata giants East Bengal 3-1 on Thursday to lift one of India's premier trophies for the fourth time, and for the first time since 1997.
"It's a fantastic achievement for our club as we have defeated East Bengal in front of their home crowd and denied them a chance of winning the (Federation) Cup for the third consecutive year," he said.
"Although we have won the Federation Cup in the past, this one is much sweeter as it comes after 14 years. Winning the I-League, and now the Federation Cup, is like a dream come true for me," he added.
This is the fourth Federation Cup win for Salgaocar, who had earlier won the tournament in 1988, 1989, and 1997.
Salgaocar was also full of praise for coach Karim Bencherifa and the players.
"All credit goes to coach Bencherifa and the players who have trained and worked hard. I would also like to dedicate this Federation Cup to the people of Goa who have turned out in huge numbers for our matches," he said.
"With this increasing fan base, we will be motivated to win more trophies in the future," he added.
