Schalke officials had earlier this week revealed that Uchida would be out for two to three weeks after suffering an injury to his right hamstring in training before the club's Europa League match against Maccabi Haifa on Thursday, which the Bundesliga outfit won 3-1.
Uchida, who has won 43 caps for Japan, was certain to be named in the squad to play Vietnam in a friendly on October 7, before their next 2014 World Cup qualifer against Tajikistan four days later.
However, should Uchida's injury heal as expected, he is likely to be available for November's return match with Tajikistan, as well as the qualifier against DPR Korea.
Japan are currently top of joint-top of Group C with Uzbekistan, after both teams recorded a win and a draw in their opening two qualifiers.
There were no major surprises in the 23-man squad named by Zaccheroni, and new faces Mike Havenaar, Hiroshi Kiyotake and Genki Haraguchi will once again get a chance to prove their worth.
