Riedl set to become Laos coach

Former Indonesia coach Alfred Riedl will become the head coach of Laos in October, he has revealed.

The Austrian is set to sign a three-year deal next month, a contract that will initially see him oversee the nation's SEA Games campaign as technical director, before taking charge of both the national and Under-23 teams early next year.

"I will sign a three-year deal with Laos. In October, I will start my new job as Laos national team technical director and oversee them during the SEA Games," Riedl, who was in charge of Laos during the 2009 SEA Games, told the Asean Football Federation's official website.

"They've already told me I will have the privilege of picking the players for the (SEA Games) squad,"

"However, come January next year I will play a new role as the head coach of the Laos senior and Under-23 national teams."
