Former Liverpool forward Kewell has been clubless since Turkish side Galatasary released him last season.
The 32-year-old has been in talks with A-league sides Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC but reportedly missed the deadline for his decision last week.
Two-time A-league champinos Melbourne Victory has stepped up to clarify the situation regarding the Australian.
"In relation to media reports surrounding the deadline, Melbourne Victory Football Club can confirm that it is in the final stages of discussions with Harry Kewell and his management," a club statement said.
"We expect to be in a position to announce an outcome shortly."
Kewell will be glad for a new club after being overlooked by Socceroos' coach Holger Osieck for being unfit.
