Tampines Rovers fail to make use of their game in hand to reclaim top spot in the S.League in the wake of a surprise 2-0 defeat to Geylang United at Tampines Stadium.
The Eagles scored twice before half-time to knock the wind out of Tampines. Korean midfielder Jeon Byung Euk opened the scoring for Geylang United in the 42nd minute Yuta Nakano sealing the win right before the half-time whistle blew.
The loss leaves the Rovers two points adrift of league leaders Home United with the same number of games played.
In the other S League match of the night, Etoile put themselves back in contention to retain their title with a 1-0 win over SAFFC courtesy of a 48th minute goal from Scottish striker Jonathan Toto.
The victory over fellow title challengers helped the Black Stars to fifth place, within two points of the Warriors and eight points of the top of the table with a game in hand.
