Brazilian striker Thiago Cunha fired the Sharks ahead at the Chonburi Stadium in the 18th minute, before his compatriot Leandro Assumpcao doubled their tally just four minutes later.
Serbian defender Darko Rakocevic did manage to net against his former club to pull one back for the visitors in the 32nd minute, but Chonburi's two-goal lead was restored eight minutes after the hour mark when Thiago grabbed his second of the night.
Ten minutes from time, the win was secured when Samuel Ajayi struck to make it 4-1, before Therdsak Chaiman struck a penalty in the second minte of injury-time to round off the scoring for the hosts.
Over at the Samut Songkhram Stadium, defending champions Muangthong United were dealt a real blow as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Samut Songkhram.
The hosts had initially been on track for a shock victory after Ivorian import Mark Babo handed them a 14th-minute lead, but Chainarong Tathong equalised 17 minutes from time to earn the Twin Qilins a share of the spoils.
However, Muangthong remain four points behind leaders Buriram United, who can stretch that out to seven with a win against Army United on Sunday.
Finally, BEC Tero Sasana's alarming from the top five continued as they were handed a fourth defeat in five games; losing 4-2 at home to bottom side Chiangrai United, who had only won two games all campaign long before Saturday.
The visitors got off to a flying start at the 72-years Anniversary Stadium and claimed a two-goal lead inside the opening eight minutes thanks to goals from Kyle Nix and Leonardo Ferreira.
However, the Fire Dragons managed to pull one back through a 47th-minute strike from Cleiton Silva, who then doubled his tally to level the scores eight minutes later.
But in the 70th minute, the on-loan Nurul Sriyankem found the back of the net to restore Chiangrai's lead, before Choklap Nilsang made it 4-2 ten minutes later to end the contest.
