Muangthong United's bid to retain the Thai Premier League title was dealt a blow on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Chonburi.

The Twin Qilins got off to a dream start at the SCG Stadium when they took the lead after just two minutes through Mario Gjurovski's ninth goal of the campaign.

However, Chonburi equalised on the hour mark thanks to an effort from Thailand international Adul Lahso, and any hopes of a Muangthong finding a late winner were all but extinguished 14 minutes from time when they were reduced to ten men after captain Datsakorn Thonglao was sent off.

The result also means leaders Buriram United can stretch their lead at the top of the table to five points with a win at Chainat on Sunday.

Relegation-threatened Pattaya United's impressive resurgence continued as they made it three wins in a row by beating BEC Tero Sasana 2-1.

Following a goalless first half at the Nongprue Stadium, Rodion Dyachenko fired the Dolphins ahead in the 53rd minute, only for Lucas Gaucho to pull level for BEC Tero 11 minutes later.

But a minute from time, Obinna Ajoku found the back of the net to hand Pattaya another vital victory.

Elsewhere, Ratchaburi went a third straight game without scoring although they did well to eke out a 0-0 draw at home to Army United.

Finally, Bangkok United and Osotspa Saraburi also played out a 0-0 stalemate at the Thai-Japanese Stadium.
