Halilhodzic distances himself from Japan job

Samurai Blue are without a coach after the Japan Football Association parted company with Javier Aguirre after the Asian Cup, with the Mexican tactician facing allegations of match fixing with regards to his time as manager of Real Zaragoza.

Reports in the Japanese press have linked Halilhodzic with the vacancy, but the Bosnian has distanced himself from such suggestions.

“There have been talks between myself and the Japanese FA however, the vacant national team job was not what was talked about,” Halilhodzic told Anadolu Agency.

The 62-year-old is currently without a post, having been sacked by Turkish outfit Trabzonspor last September.
