Syrian striker Omar Al Soma scored twice as Saudi side Al Ahli drew 2-2 draw at Iran's Tractorsazi Tabriz in their AFC Champions League Group D match on Tuesday.
After a first half that finished goalless, the match came alive after the interval.
The Iranian side scored first when Brazilian forward Edinho found the back of the net in the 59th minute.
The hosts managed to hang on to the lead for just 14 minutes as Omar Al Soma leveled matters in the 73rd minute.
Their celebrations lasted only four minutes as Shahin Saghebi gave Tractor a 2-1 lead in the 77th minute.
Al Ahli continued to look for opportunities and their attacking verve was rewarded in the 90th minute when Al Soma popped to score his second of the night to make it 2-2.
The result means Al Ahli remains on top of Group D with eight points from four matches, while Tractorsazi has four points.
They will also be without Farshad Ahmadzadeh for the remainder of the Group stage after the midfielder was sent in the dying seconds of the match after a confrontation with Al Ahli captain Taiseer Al Jassam.
The first half was something of a damp squid and although the Iranians had the better of the possession in the opening period, very few goal scoring opportunities were created in that time.
Tractorsazi started the second half the stronger and should arguably have gone in front in the 58th minute when Ahmadzadeh's cross found Edinho unmarked in the box but he was denied by a double save from keeper Al Maiouf, who managed to push the final ball past his upright.
From the resulting corner, the Al Ahli defense was only able to partially clear the ball, which landed at the Brazilian's feet and this time he made no mistake with his shot, which beat the unfortunate Al Maiouf thanks to a massive deflection.
While the hosts dominated the following 20 minutes, Al Ahli found themselves level when Al Soma outmuscled defender Khaled Shafiei on the edge of the box and rifled in a shot into the roof of the net.
Three minutes later, the home side was in front again when Andranik Teymourian's corner kick was met by Saghebi, who thumped in a header to make it 2-1.
Al Soma was unfortunate not level matter with a freekick in the 85th minute when his thumping set piece ricocheted off the cross bar, but with a minute left, the Syrian got another opportunity after Aqeel Al Sahabi cut the ball back to him and the Syrian made no mistake from six yards out.
