Kiatisuk ‘Zico’ Senamuang has resigned as coach of Port FC after just three months in charge.
The former Thailand national team coach said he would consider stepping down if his side could not beat Chonburi, and after their 3-1 defeat on Wednesday, he made good on his promise.
“Chonburi is a strong team. I must admit that what happened today was totally our fault. We could not really fight hard. We had too many mistakes,” he said in the post-match press conference.
“From here, I want to step down from my post. I have been ready to take the responsibility for my work. Because we could not gain three points in this match, I am willing to resign.
“I’m looking forward to evaluating myself for the next year, but everyone cannot wait since they are waiting for success. The expectations of the team are really high.”
Kiatisuk, who took charge of Port FC after stepping down as national coach, managed just one win, six losses and three draws during his time with the club.
