Ivory Coast have been labelled favourites in the upcoming African Cup of Nations since the 2006 edition, but have failed to deliver so far.
They lost the 2006 finals on penalties to hosts Egypt, bowed out in the semifinals 4-1 to Egypt again in 2008 and lost to Algeria in 2010 edition's quarterfinals.
This time, the Africa Footballer of the Year winner is determined to live up to expectations.
He said on FIFA's official website: "This is the third time that people say we are favourites so I think 2012 will be the year of Côte d'Ivoire. We have such a fantastic squad and I think we have a chance of going far,"
"After the losses we have had at the Cup of Nations, I believe the squad now has the experience and right mentality,"
Ivory Coast are favourites to top Group B, where they face Suda, Burkina Faso and Angola. They will likely face Zambia or Libya in the quarterfinals should they go through as group winners.
