Guirado, Cagara set to face Singapore

Philippines are set to receive a boost for the AFF Suzuki Cup semi-finals against Singapore with the release of Angel Guirado and Dennis Cagara by their clubs.

It takes three men to stop Guirado in full flight.

The Azkals are set to welcome Singapore in Manila on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium for the first leg of the semi-final and it was at first thought that the duo would miss out when they did not travel back to the Philippines with the team from Thailand after the group stages of the tournament.

However, national team liaison officer Ace Bright confirmed on Wednesday that he talked with Guirado, who plays for German Third Division Club Karlsruher, and Cagara, who plays for I-League side Salgaocar, and will be flying the duo back to the Philippines after they were released by their clubs.

"They will play in the home game (if selected). I am trying to get their plane tickets so they can be back in Manila at least by Friday," he said.

The Azkals will be hoping to continue their good run of results against Singapore after securing back-to-back friendly victories over the Lions recently.
