Yangon United midfielder Kyi Lin opened the scoring for the hosts in the 38th minute, but Timor Leste, who recorded a stunning 5-1 win over Cambodia on Friday, equalised ten minutes after the break through Alan Leandro.
However, Myanmar continued to look the more dangerous of the two sides and eventually grabbed all three points in the 74th minute, when Kyi Lin grabbed his second of the game.
The result leaves Park Sung-hwa's men top of the table with six points from two games, three ahead of Timor Leste and Laos, who opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over Cambodia, courtesy of Visay Phaphouvanin's 39th-minute winner.
