FC Bayern München's rising star Joshua Kimmich has praised RB Leipzig for their stellar season and warned his team to be on their toes ahead of Saturday's clash.
Kimmich, who has scored an impressive eight goals this season despite being a holding midfielder, spent the early part of his professional career with the Ralph Hasenhuttl-coached outfit.
The Bavarians will take on Leipzig this weekend and, although the game is meaningless as Bayern are champions and the Bulls are guaranteed UEFA Champions League football in 2017/18 – Kimmich expects the home team to start strongly.
The 22-year-old told Bayern TV, "I still have a lot of friends there and have followed them closely. They’ve had a super season. They are a really young and hungry team, score a lot of early goals and are rightfully up there near the top of the table. Luckily behind us!"
The German champions have been hard at training this week although striker Robert Lewandowski has been training on his own as he shakes off a knock. Earlier, Javi Martinez was ruled out for the season with a collar bone fracture.
